Former Clinton pollster Mark Penn examined the “out of hand” Robert Mueller investigation into President Donald Trump, saying the “deep state is clearly in a deep state of desperation.”
“Every day we discover more and more potential abuses — that the investigation didn’t have a foundation, that they used this flaky dossier, you know, that was never substantiated as part of their investigation,” Penn told New York AM 970 radio’s “The Cats Roundtable” host John Catsimatidis on his Sunday broadcast.

This was an attempt to frame candidate Trump.
Seems they ran several assets at both Page and Papadopoulos. They may have planted the stories with these two with a first asset so that they could get another asset to prod them for the planted info later - the later asset would then come back and report it to the FBI, thus giving FBI arguments to make in the warrant applications.

I have a notion that This is a back channel from Hillary Clinton’s end of the deep state to Donald Trump signaling they could help him out of this mess media wise and provide political/media relief for an understanding of ‘don’t prosecute us, prosecute them”.
It’s just a notion, but Mark Penn is a made man in politics and journalism as well as a supporter of the notion of Megatrends, him turning to PDJT side of the spygate is a pretty big thing in some circles.
There is no doubt Mark Penn will be a major ‘behind the scenes player’ for the Dems on the 2020 Presidential primaries and election. He’s a person of significance.
