Having said that - and, with all due respect to Barone - you are right in what you say. These rabid Dems wanted to impeach Nixon for talking about doing what 0bama has done... and the Dems demand the 'bamster's right to get away with it. REMEMBER Hildy was counselor to the Congressional Watergate committee and she insisted that Richard Nixon had no right to be represented by legal counsel in the proceedings.
I hope Barone's piece is not part of an attempt to draw a parallel between the two incidents; there is NO comparison between the two. Nixon might have made the perfect special prosecutor to present the case of treason against this cabal of elites!

My recollection of Pres Nixon is that, yeah he was shady, my parents thought he was crooked going back to when he was Ike’s VP, but he was a very smart guy. Surely he was smart enough to realize he had the re election in the bag, especially after the Dems nominated Sen McGovern. Why would someone as intelligent as Nixon be dumb enough to get involved with what amounted to a 3rd rate burglary committed by the type of incompetent crooks you’d see on Cops?

My #21 above somewhat answers this question. WATERGATE WAS BLOWN A WAY OUT OF PROPORTION! The Dems and their corrupt media saw a chance to criminalize the Republican Party - at which they succeeded in taking control of the Congress for over 20 years.
If - as the Dems say now - 'Spygate' is no big thing, then how could Watergate be more than a parking violation?
I am no defender of Richard Nixon - didn't much care for him. But he appears a piker next to this 'bamster guy.

Articles like this sound to me like the Deep State is trying to minimize the seriousness of Spygate. It shouldn’t even be called Spygate. It should be called something more like “the greatest political crime in the history of the world”. The FISA/spying part is just the tip of the iceberg.

Michael Barone is a g-damn moron. Watergate wasn’t even a blip on the corruption radar. This is a massive conspiracy of high treason. Systematic corruption and politicization of our gubbermint by the left-—Nation ending kinda stuff.
