“The oligarch is one of several with ties to Putin who were sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department last month to curb their business activities, under a law aimed at punishing Russia for its interference in the 2016 election.”

He has been dubbed “oligarch” by Trump government.

Means Trump government has justified FBI’s spying operation.

What’s the difference between a Russian oligarch and American oligarch George Soros?

I just can’t let your statement go. The article says these recordings were given to the FBI just a few months ago. Let’s say for sake of argument these recordings are the worst collusion EVER in the history of collusion. Trump is offering billions to Putin to take every voting machine and hack it in favor of Trump. It is irrelevant then as justification for the FBI spying on the TRUMP campaign in its early stages.

The spying on Trump’s campaign started well in advance of the FBI obtaining this tape (which I have assumed for argument only is the worst). Before the FBI had probable cause, they decided to infiltrate his campaign in an attempt to create probable cause and justify a FISA warrant.

But I don’t believe for a hot second that these recordings of Trump Jr. are anything. These articles are always the same. They take a fact and present it in the light most harmful to the Trumps. All exculpatory facts are flushed away and it takes two days before the counter position is presented. Contrast that to the Obama administration where every story read like a criminal defense. It was as of Johnnie Cochran suddenly wrote for every paper in America.

The FBI may be justified in spying on Toshin but that doesn’t translate into spying on an American citizen whose only contact with said Russian [who was not yet on the list of “sanctioned oligarchs” at the time] was to chat at a perfectly legal convention that was held by a civil rights organization that very openly supports both the US Constitution, law enforcement, and minorities needing an equalizer. The Russian didn’t even get the meeting he sought, which for all we know he was trying to arrange so he could get run of the mill souvenir photo with a celebrity president like hundreds of other people try to get.

Maybe the FBI should focus its efforts on Uranium One where the Russians did get what they sought, or on a Pakistani criminal ring that’s been operating directly out of the US Capitol and drawing suspiciously large amounts of money from its bank, or on money laundering by the previous administration to finance the regime in Iran.

That’s not at all a straight line leading to collusion.
