House Democrats are giving young gun safety advocates an opportunity to spend the summer in Washington exploring whether their activism could lead to a career.
House Democratic leaders on Thursday announced a new gun safety internship program designed for students from Floridas Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where a teen gunman killed 17 people in February, and other schools that have been affected by gun violence.
Democratic caucus chairman Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) and vice chair Linda Sánchez (D-Calif.), as well as Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.), who chairs a House task force on gun violence prevention, and Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) sent a letter to fellow Democratic lawmakers encouraging them to offer summer internships to students who have been advocating for gun safety measures.
We have all been impressed with the leadership and passion shown by students around the country on the issue of gun violence prevention, the lawmakers wrote. Through efforts like the March for Our Lives, students have been speaking up and demanding action on this issue like never before, and they are an inspiration to many of us.

An internship with the Dems would be more traumatic than gun violence.
Paying for votes again I see....
Is this being paid for by WE THE TAX PAYERS?
Hogg will probably be rejected for these internships.
Liberal RATs should go to Chicago where RAT politicians have allowed the most gun violence to take place; far more than in the Florida school shooting. I doubt RATs want to highlight how complicit they are in the a mount of gun violence in Chicago that stems from RAT politicians and their policies.
That’s probably for the whole Chicago school system.
I can think of several democrat congressmen who would LOVE to have Twink Hogg around the office.
No doubt Hoggboy would do “anything” for them, too
Hmmm. I’ve known 5 people that committed suicide with firearms, one close friends son killed while he and his pals were “playing” with a shotgun and one negligent discharge that was totally my fault with no one injured. I’m not traumatized by any of them.
First they’ll be interviewed by Ben Dover
Lol, no kidding. It’s like living in a war torn country and being told the UN Peacekeepers are here to HELP you!
Agreed. Maybe this should include field trips through Chicago and then Maine and Vermont (even with that silly bit of nonsense that was enacted there recently).
One of my hunting buddies, who has handled long guns for over 50 years, always laid his rifle next to him in his p/u. One day he forgot to check the safety and his .22-250 fired while sitting next to him. Only injuries were to his truck, his pride, his hearing and all the ribbing he took from the rest of us. No snowflakes in this crowd.
Sad, but could be true.
looking for fresh meat?........................
Similar to interning for Pervey Weinstein.
No thanks!
