Testimony begins this morning in the retrial of a San Antonio man accused in a grisly killing in 2014 of another man who was beaten, suffocated, his body cut up and some of his remains burned on a barbecue grill. The trial of Daniel Moreno Lopez, 32, began March 27, 2017, and proceedings were halted two days later. He is one of three defendants charged with killing Jose Luis Menchaca, 35, who was beaten with aluminum baseball bats, his limbs cut off and grilled on a barbecue pit. Authorities found parts of Menchaca’s body Oct. 6, 2014, in trash bags in the detached garage at a home in the 400 block of Hillwood Drive on the North Side, where Lopez lived with his girlfriend and co-defendant, Candie Dominguez, 38. She and Lopez’s cousin, Gabriel Moreno, 34, also are charged in the Sept. 30, 2014, slaying.

Although why you would grill it and then store it in the garage is beyond me.
