Trump cancels Singapore summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un
CNBC ^

President Donald Trump wrote a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un saying that their planned summit next month in Singapore was cancelled.

The meeting, which would have marked the first face-to-face encounter between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader, was set for June 12 in the southeastern Asian island city state.

"Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting," Trump wrote in the letter, which was released Thursday morning.

You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will ever have to be used.

Trump sandwiched this in between all the niceties.

Wonder if the timing of Merkel’s visit has anything to do with this, why the PRC is throwing a spanner in the works...

Perfect.

Im sure another Kinetic weapon sent into Kimmie’s new Nuke test site in the southern mountain range will bring him back to the table.

I have suspected that China/NK had set a monkey-trap for Trump. As I also suspected, he didn’t hang on to the bait. They underestimate him.

Agree.
This move aimed at China.
What this means is no more concessions on trade, because North Korea was the Chinese carrot.
And for the first time we got something (release of hostages) and they got nothing.

Great letter. What were the hostile and angry words from N. Korea. I think I missed them?

I don’t think so. I think Kim was worried that once he’s out of the country, the generals left behind would take over his country.

Don't worry, the media will step up to defend the communist N. Korea and the murderous tyrants leading the country.

An interesting fact is that if Kim genuinely feels threatened and fears loss of everthing to a military coup while he is in Singapore, he has lost Trump’s promised protection.

Kim is now between his grave, a rock and a hard place.

True, China is making fools of EU leadership turning them on the U.S. their greatest ally.

Brilliant, totally unexpected move. Now Trump has “hand”. Un was trying to jerk him around, make a puppet out of the US President. Not playing that game.

Walk away, squeeze China economically some more, and let them send Little Rocket Man groveling back, hat in hand.

All the liberal pinheads expected Trump to bend over backwards to get Un to the table for a PR win, instead he bitch slapped him.

“I think Kim was worried that once he’s out of the country, the generals left behind would take over his country.”

You’d think that would have come to his mind many months ago, or at least when they agreed to Singapore as a venue. What’s changed?
