Auto industry is about 50% union.
We’ve never had Free Trade.
I wasn’t sure of it’s make up today. LOoks like a good start to me, if it’s still headed down.
name one tariff actually imposed by trump on steel or aluminum or automobiles
Trump threatens but so far has not acted because he is achieving objectives with no actual tariffs
btw...... tariff history is irrevelant
Oh, I forgot: WINNING!
FYI
Importing a car from outside the EU
A car or other motor vehicle imported to Germany from outside the EU is normally subject to a 10% import duty and a 19% import value added tax. (The value-added tax on imports is called import turnover tax (Einfuhrumsatzsteuer).
I love it. Tariffs will cause more production to occur in the good ole USA!!!
Best president ever!
Looks like he finally figured out that imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum actually puts U.S. industries that USE steel and aluminum as raw materials at a disadvantage against foreign competitors.
Like child you ignore history. Were you born yesterday? What a fool. PS: Adam Smith was an a$$.
Huh? National security grounds?
Even with a tariff bulk Al and steel are dirt cheap. The stuff just isn’t that expansive.
Agree. Target Germany cars!!!
The auto industry is a strategic asset. Ever read a history book or are you still coloring between the lines?
LOL! Classy as ever.
... The Administration is Telegraphing the Presidents next move. By creating tariffs where there were little, signals he is about to negotiate better trade and manufacturing deals in the auto industry and use those newly minted tariffs to leverage those deals.
I don’t really care if Trump negotiates trade deals. Maybe that will make our trading partners happier.
But bottom line Tariffs are what I want. No negotiation necessary. You sell into our market you pay the tariff. It’s simple. If you want to put up a similar tariff on the products you buy from us, (if you haven’t already) have at it.
Across the board tariffs on everyone stops a lot of game playing. It supports American industry, American jobs. And it makes us less dependent on foreign countries.
It does have a scent of familiarity.
I think people are forgetting why consumers started buying foreign made cars. Even when made in the U.S.A.
He was supposed to have caused a depression with his tariffs.
Foreign labelled cars made in the USA are NOT subject to import duties.
