MbS not only has a problem with his relatives that want to have a part of the income from the oil, like Prince Khaled bin Farhan above, but as well from the Wahabbis and the Salafists. in the below long article the threat from al Qaeda is described:

Al-Qaeda believes that if they can persuade even a few younger radical clerics to accept the call, a break between the clergy and the House of Saud could pave the way for the regime’s collapse.

https://warontherocks.com/2018/05/the-crown-prince-of-riyadh-vs-the-crown-prince-of-jihad-al-qaeda-responds-to-mohammed-bin-salmans-reforms/

In addition we should add the bad financial position of KSA https://ameinfo.com/money/economy/saudi-oil-price/

....”long term they are still our enemies”....

Not exactly so...”long term” the US has had ‘decades’ of friendship with the Sauds..though bumpy at times.

The Iranians have not only had women drivers for decades, but also female taxi drivers

We should not support either

The Sauds have used the US to spread Wahabbiism.

Long and informative article about MbS (would this be a draft for an obituary?)

Through such a highly selective anti-corruption campaign, Mohammed’s kleptocracy has nonetheless accomplished several goals. It has disempowered many of the economic elites and their Al Saud allies and expropriated their sources of income. Detaining several media moguls and investors, Mohammed has privileged his family’s own media company and controlled the narrative coming out of Saudi Arabia. He has also shattered notions of consensus as well as the long-standing balance of power within the top ruling members of the monarchy. While the latter may not have been able to prevent the crown prince from taking the throne, they could have presented many obstacles to the centralization of his power and governance in general. Most tragically, the regime has succeeded at what every Saudi regime has historically done best: terrorizing a whole population. Yet again, people’s political aspirations, let alone dreams of leading better and more prosperous lives, will not see the light of day.

There are many tweets in Arabic that MbS is dead, but it is from sites against KSA, such as this pro-Syria account https://twitter.com/fadigaber5/status/999906085161979905

That was the condition. That’s why the Sauds are the enemy, not allies

Still, I do think we have to give credit for what’s happening currently regarding how the Sauds New leadership and others are viewing it. Also that it takes a generation at least to undo the past. I also thin that as with Christianity with all it’s branches this is likewise among Islam.........personally all of Islam, regardless of which brand, is evil in my opinion and the cause of the instability and violence throughout the world including the East. However, religion aside Saudi is our ally.

Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman on Oct. 2017 Regarding Wahhabism:

...”What happened in the last 30 years is not Saudi Arabia. What happened in the region in the last 30 years is not the Middle East. After the Iranian revolution in 1979, people wanted to copy this model in different countries, one of them is Saudi Arabia. We didn’t know how to deal with it. And the problem spread all over the world. ‘Now is the time to get rid of it’....

“Aug. 2016 ...........200 Muslim scholars from Egypt, Russia, Syria, Sudan, Jordan, and Europe rejected Saudi Arabia’s doctrine and considered a “frontal assault on Wahhabism”

MbS is lying -- the Sauds have been this way since 1770 -- read about the First Saudi Kingdom and what they did. They also destroyed other Sunni schools in the kingdom when they took over in the 1920s (with British help)

the past 30 years are exactly in line with what has happened in the past.

I seriously urge you to read the Sira, the Quran and also read about the history of the Saudis vis-a-vis Pasha Muhammad Ali of Egypt

I am aware of the history, (the past 30 years especially that the Prince refers to regarding iran etc.) the Sira and Quran..... Still this new leadership and the other muslim leaderships who have been actively modernizing and changing their practices needs to be considered, after all we didn’t build our own nation overnight either. We aren’t the puritans that landed either.

I think it will be longer - weeks or months - before it is clear. But certainly, there is some shift going on.

The picture from the FIFA meeting stated to have been taken 25MAY2018 is actually from this article dated December 2017 https://www.alarabiya.net/ar/sport/saudi-sport/2017/12/27/%D9%85%D8%AD%D9%85%D8%AF-%D8%A8%D9%86-%D8%B3%D9%84%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%86-%D9%8A%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%82%D9%8A-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%88%D9%8A%D8%B3%D8%B1%D9%8A-%D8%AC%D9%8A%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%8A-%D8%A5%D9%86%D9%81%D8%A7%D9%86%D8%AA%D9%8A%D9%86%D9%88-.html

and there is this gif from a funeral in Saudi when the king is present. However, there is no sound so I do not know what it is about https://twitter.com/tanwir116/status/1000672295311036416

It looks odd.

The Saudis have now removed the article from 2017 with the same picture as they used 25 APR2018, but here is the cached article https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:cM2X2q5RXM0J:https://www.alarabiya.net/ar/sport/saudi-sport/2017/12/27/%25D9%2585%25D8%25AD%25D9%2585%25D8%25AF-%25D8%25A8%25D9%2586-%25D8%25B3%25D9%2584%25D9%2585%25D8%25A7%25D9%2586-%25D9%258A%25D9%2584%25D8%25AA%25D9%2582%25D9%258A-%25D8%25A7%25D9%2584%25D8%25B3%25D9%2588%25D9%258A%25D8%25B3%25D8%25B1%25D9%258A-%25D8%25AC%25D9%258A%25D8%25A7%25D9%2586%25D9%258A-%25D8%25A5%25D9%2586%25D9%2581%25D8%25A7%25D9%2586%25D8%25AA%25D9%258A%25D9%2586%25D9%2588-.html+&;
