Trump charges John Kelly with getting Russia probe documents to Congress
Washington Examiner ^ | May 21, 2018

President Trump left a Monday meeting with FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein with an agreement on future steps to facilitate the release of Russia-probe documents to Congress.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said the men "agreed that White House Chief of Staff Kelly will immediately set up a meeting with the FBI, DOJ, and DNI together with Congressional Leaders to review highly classified and other information they have requested.”

House intelligence commitee Republicans led by chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., have sought unsuccessfully to see certain documents on the FBI's probe of possible Trump campaign collusion with Russia, including on its use of an informant.

.
Per DeSantis, witnesses have told them Rosenstein is working with/for Mueller.

Mueller makes the decisions, Rosenstein announces.

Sessions AWOL, even in Main Justice.

Rosenstein = saboteur

“...the men “agreed that White House Chief of Staff Kelly will immediately set up a meeting with the FBI, DOJ, and DNI together with Congressional Leaders to review highly classified and other information they have requested.”

Call me cynical I guess but I think we’ve had enough of these Beltway “meetings”. The time for the FBI and DOJ to vet these materials for security reasons has long since passed.

It’s a good reason (probably good reason 239) that I’m not President. Wray and Rosenstine would have received an incredible butt chewing and then would have been told to produce ALL documents before midnight tonight - or consider themselves under arrest of obstruction of justice.

But well, that’s just me...

Would John Kelly seem likely to protect the Deep State?

I guess I don’t understand government, ours specifically. Why couldn’t our President simply say to Wray and Rosenweasl during the meeting this afternoon. Guys, take 5 minutes, call your staff and have them hand carry those documents to Nunes before this meeting is over, or, submit your resignation. Either choice is fine and will be made before the end of this meeting.

I fail to see what is so hard. Guess I’m just slow.

The word “charges” in this context means he assigned or ordered Kelly to do it. But at first glance the headline looks like criminal charges are being discussed. I’d have reworded it.

Hopefully, Kelly can be in the meeting and can report back to Trump what is in the documents.

If just the Congress got the documents; no telling when the White House would learn the details.

I'm with you. This starts another bureaucratic exercise with lots of players. Also, an IG investigation will not reach the coup plotters who are former employees. A SC would have far greater power.

Trump messed up again. Should have fired them. This will result in nothing but more stalling and the documents will never get transferred. Trump just doesn’t get it yet.

Well lets see if the general can follow instructions and get it done, else go back to Trump and have him fire everyone at the DOJ/FBI that won’t do their jobs.

I keep wondering the same. They all ultimately report to Trump and all he should have to do is say “Release them now, today, else have your resignations on my desk in the morning.” Why hasn’t he, except maybe to play politics and beat them up every day?

I think Trump’s move using Kelly is the right call. Effectively, it’s the same as doing it himself right then and there, except it takes just a little longer. But by doing it this way he insulates himself from being accused of putting national security at risk by not having someone like Kelly reviewing it first before handing it over.

I’m betting Kelly makes few, if any, redactions, and likely turns over to Congress exactly what Trump would do if did it on the spot himself. But it’ll be much harder for the media to accuse Kelly of being careless with these documents than it would if Trump did it himself.

Sessions was not at the meeting because he chose to recuse himself.
He is a non factor in the biggest scandal in American history.
Trump dropped the hammer on Rosenweasel and Wray.

Trump just doesn't get it yet.

Patently untrue. Trump has known about the campaign spying for over a year and is wisely waiting for the right time to prosecute it. He realizes the principal players are protected and a few patsies will get reprimanded. He realizes that all has nothing to do with MAGA and as long as he can convince the average American that he and the Republicans are on the right track, he will do fine.
