I note the BBC map describes the Turkish-occupied zone as “Syrian rebels”
On the map topic....they had to label it with something. You couldn’t mark it ‘Turkish anti-Assad rebels’ or ‘Turkish Syrian rebels’. And to be honest, I can’t believe a single Turk would be interested in moving down into the territory. This is more of a PR-stunt by Erdogan, and at the appropriate time....they will pronounce success and move back to Turkish lines.
If you follow Turkish entertainment...new movie out....very popular with pro-Erdogan folks....Can Feda. Pro-military story....lots of action...pro-Turkey slant. I expect some movie to be made over the Turkish invasion of Syria and lots of hype to occur.
yes “rebels”... at least they aren’t calling them “youths”... not yet at least...
Correct. THAT is where ISIS was transplanted, under Turkish control. So they are being sheltered from destruction by Turkey. And the peaceful residence of Afrin (Efrin) are living in the fields and hills of another region to the East. Ethnic cleansing and mass displacement of 300,000 residents in time span of a couple of days. Turkey is guilty of huge numbers of war crimes in this process.
