Cambridge professor outed as FBI informant inside Trump campaign
The New York Post ^ | May 19th, 2018 | By Mary Kay Linge

A Cambridge professor with deep ties to American and British intelligence has been outed as an agent who snooped on the Trump presidential campaign for the FBI.

Multiple media outlets have named Stefan Halper, 73, as the secret informant who met with Trump campaign advisers Carter Page and George Papadopoulos starting in the summer of 2016. The American-born academic previously served in the Nixon, Ford and Reagan administrations.

The revelation, stemming from recent reports in which FBI sources admitted sending an agent to snoop on the Trump camp, heightens suspicions that the FBI was seeking to entrap Trump campaign aides. Papodopoulous has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, while Page was the subject of a federal surveillance warrant.

“If the FBI or DOJ was infiltrating a campaign for the benefit of another campaign, that is a really big deal,” President Trump tweeted Saturday, calling for the FBI to release additional documents to Congress.

The Halper revelation also shows the Obama administration’s FBI began prying into the opposing party’s presidential nominee earlier than it previously admitted.

Halper’s sit-downs with Page reportedly started in early July 2016, undermining fired FBI Director James Comey’s previous claim that the bureau’s investigation into the Trump campaign began at the end of that month.

Do we even have an AG? If we didn’t have one filling the position, how would anything be different?

The FBI and DOJ are worried about releasing the name of the informant Stefan Halper when it was the FBI DOJ that provided the information to the NYT and others that a 3rd grade student could figure out who it was.Since the name is out just release the documents. They don’t want to do that because it will make the FBI DOJ look like the crooks they they are and AG sessions is the lead protector in all of this. This is what you would call CYA in spades

The President Demanding the FBI DOJ release the documents will not work. Sessions and Rosentein will just tell their boss to go to hell. That’s right people the FBI DOJ are part of the administration and trump is the CEO. he need to call Rosentein, Sessions and Wray in and tell them to give all the documents to congress that they have a “constitutional right” to see in 24 hrs are have their resignations on his desk.

The only other option is to tell these three that he will declassify all the documents they are trying to keep secret so people can read every word. Sessions, Rosentein, Wray seem to think they are above any over sight from anyone. These are not elected positions they are appointed positions by the President their CEO

He wasn’t an informant or spy. His job was to set up an entrapment scheme.

Right, kind of like an insurance policy in case the unthinkable might happen and Trump win.

Who ever/if ever is found guilty of spying, why not a long term prison time? If such people knew they would be on their way to the big house, perhaps there would be a few who would be not so interested in spying on anyone for anything.

At this point, either PDJT is an idiot for keeping him or Sessions is accomplishing a lot quietly and isn’t making waves right now for a reason.

I don’t believe PDJT is an idiot.

Since he is a Brit, why must he fall on his sword?

so long as he stays in caimbridge, he is immune to discovery and prosecution.

I don’t think even Inspector Morse can get to him

He’s a Clinton cronie. Went to Oxford with Billy Jeff.

Also worked on the Bush primary campaign against Reagan in 1980. So he's a GHW Bush cronie (which is really the same thing).

Informant? That's an interesting word.

Who else employs or deploys "informants"?

He has been paid over $1.2mil by the US Government since 2012 and it’s all classified.

He's not the only one.

Was the spy asked by the FBI to talk about Russian theft of Hillary emails - which we have never seen by the way?

Then the FBI asked Papadapoulus “were there any Russian email conversations?”, and he said there were none? They obviously played him the tape from their spy. This was entrapment. Papdap vigorously said no to the spy on Russian emails, why should that stupid entrapping conversation be used as “lying to the FBI” who had sent this torpedo in to precisely set perjury traps. Agent provocateur? A man is not really a spy or informant if he is creating the criminal conspiracy that the government is pursuing. The Trump campaign, who Papdap was not really a part of, was innocent, and the government knew it. This is too much mischief in a presidential campaign to let this slide. They have spoke of treason and espionage, and there is none, and they damn well knew that as well. Now we see the insurance policy that Strozk was talking about.

Besides shredding the Constitution in this Clinton coup d’etat-rape of our nation, Obama and the DNC have so diminished our law enforcement institutions that now supposed Jihad terrorists being investigated will point to these actions and say, “the FBI is framing me with bogus, entrapping conversations, just like they framed Trump.” Now it will be much harder to deny, and I believe this makes America less safe. Thank you Obama for the politicization, perversion and pollution of our law enforcement institutions to advance your bad policy that has been voted out of office. It will take years for the people to fully trust these government agencies again. Or perhaps these agencies should be dismantled if they conduct themselves like this.

Sessions is derelict in his duty, he should immediately unrecuse himself, and start taking this criminal cancer down.

Or Sessions should just quit, he is a fool to let this happen to America.

Donald Trump can boot Sessions and Rosenstein today but the US Senate would block any good nominees to replace Sessions. Donald Trump can also declassify all these super secret bullshit FISA warrants and memos and material about scummy FBI informants. My take is that Trump is waiting until after the report comes out from the Inspector General of the DOJ. This will give him the leverage to put a good solid replacement into Sessions seat. Trump will also declassify reams of FBI and DOJ documents. Trump will blow up the 2018 mid term elections!

Who did Halper report to? That is the question.

Another question is, how many other "spies" were there, and are the things they were involved in more "interesting" than Halpern? Why wouldn't the deep state give up a minor traitor to distract from a major one?

If the man created the criminal conspiracy that the government is supposedly pursuing, then he is beyond spy. It turns out the spy was the only one talking about Russian-Hillary email theft. Trump campaign is innocent.

That is why this is so rotten. The FBI sends the agent provocateur into the Trump campaign to talk about stealing Hillary’s emails, and then the FBI goes to the press that “we have knowledge of Trump-Russia collusion.” It is all lies, like a Stalinist show trial of an unliked politician.

This is frightening that our government can do this.

Blumenthal? Podesta? Lynch?

Or was he reporting to Papadopolis? Trump's team kept telling Papa to get lost.

But he started with Carson...Why there?

His "arrest" is simply a way of protecting him for their purposes. The guy didn't have anything to lie about. He was a delivery boy.

Technically he didn’t work inside the Trump campaign. He rather infiltrated the campaign via communications with Page, Papadopoulos and another guy. Same principle but through another door instead of actually bring hire"

The NYT is trying to sell him as an "insider informant". As you note, he actively infiltrated the campaign and deceptively engaged the campaign staff. He was an active spy.
