It’s an episode that will get thrown out, but the judges will spend a month or two reviewing it. There’s nothing in German law or the Basic Law (the constitution) that says the Chancellor is responsible for the border.

But by having the court throw this out....the AfD can say the court supports Merkel, and they need to be relieved of their job.

Bigger court issue is EU dragging Germany into some accusation of not resolving the diesel particle crisis. They are aiming at massive fines (might add up to a billion Euro). No one wants to proceed with the banning of cars, and they are hesitant to select the filtering system (mostly over cost I think, 3k Euro per vehicle).

This coalition is cooling off...I saw a rumor story this week saying it’d collapse intentionally at the end of 2019, and some new election by May/June of 2020.
