In April, Mysterious Professor #1 passes on to Papadop his scuttlebutt that Russia has Hillary's emails. (Duh. Foreign intel services were probably penetrating Secretary Hillary's bathroom server as easily as Bill with a cigar and a White House Intern.)

In May, Mysterious Aussie Diplomat drinks Papadop under the table and extracts the juicy scuttlebutt.

In September, Mysterious Professor #2 and Shapely Turkish Assistant try to extract from Papadop that Russia hacked the DNC.

They grow frustrated when Papadop denies knowing this.

But why was that suspicious? Papadop heard scuttlebutt about Hillary's emails, not the DNC/Wasserman-Schultz emails.

The problem for the DOJ/CIA was that someone just hearing about Hillary's emails being passed around like a soggy blunt at a rap concert was not enough to justify claiming that person is a foreign agent engaged in a conspiracy.

They needed to get him to admit he had advance knowledge of the DNC hack.
