Difference between Watergate and Obamagate:

Nixon was not aware of the plan to break into the office at teh Watergate. He later found out and tried to cover it up. (It's not the crime, but the cover-up!!! Or, so we were told...)

Obama ordered the FBI and CIA to spy on Trump, and to cover up their action. Obama was directly involved. It was his plan. (It's BOTH the crime AND the cover-up)

Why is the NY Times outing Stefan Halper?

Normally they would be covering for him.

They never do anything that doesn’t damage President Trump without an ulterior motive.

Halper was more of an Informer than Informant — he was pushing information at the targets, not the other way around. He was serving as an agent-provocateur. Whether he was officially aware of it or was just being used is another question.

The NYT games of outing Halper and focusing on him alone, make me wonder: Who is the NYT covering up for? And with Page and Strzok under too much scrutiny and out of the loop, who is telling the NYT etc. what to write?

I think that half the country will buy their story. The media, all democrats and the republican leadership will buy their story. The tiny, remaining, squishy few will find the entire thing too complicated and not insist on prosecutions.

Those of us that want justice will never be able to force... say... a Sessions to lower the hammer and prosecute. If Sessions had any intentions at all he would have - as a minimum - moved Rosenstein into a recusal on this entire mess (in that Rosenstein signed a FISA and signed off on the lawyer raid).

In the end, whenever a harmful issue pops up on the coup, the insiders will flip open their internet Rolodex and push another mental case (they've been tracking) over the top to shoot up another school.
