THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

JEROME KERN

The Twenties constituted the greatest decade in American musical theater, and Jerome created at least one show every year for the entire decade. His first show was “The Night Boat,” which ran for more than 300 performances in New York.

THE NIGHT BOAT

George made quite a bit on money playing piano for the piano rolls that constituted the major form of home entertainment before radio. This is George having fun with a colleague’s song, working it up ragtime style.
