Lachlan Murdoch will serve as chairman and CEO of New Fox, the new company to be formed after 21st Century Fox sells much of its TV and entertainment holdings to Walt Disney Co.
John Nallen, currently CFO of 21st Century Fox, will serve as chief operating officer of New Fox. Rupert Murdoch will be co-chairman of New Fox.
We have worked through the winter standing up a reimagined independent Fox. The strengths of the new company, a leader in News, Sports and Entertainment, present truly unique opportunities, said Lachlan Murdoch. I am also personally very pleased that John has agreed to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer, and together we look forward to making further announcements as to the management and structure of this new Fox as we get closer to closing our proposed transaction with Disney.
The appointments of Lachlan Murdoch and Nallen had been expected, as was the fact that there is no role for current 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch in the new company. Wednesdays announcement also fails to address questions about the fate of myriad other executives including current 21st Century Fox co-president Peter Rice and Fox Television Group chairs Dana Walden and Gary Newman.

[Fox is now Disney. ]
It’s been a Mickey Mouse outfit for quite some time...
Disney has some new fields to poison.
This gives Disney full control of the Marvel’s X-Men properties (X-Men, Deadpool, New Mutants) that Marvel sold the movie/tv rights to Fox in the 90’s. Disney tried to sell the fanboys on “Inhumans are the new X-Men” but that didn’t work.
How Disney in control could affect long-running Fox series (X-Files, Simpsons) should be interesting—Lefties eating Lefties...
I have mixed views about this.
I’m not fond of Disney pretty much shopping for new organizations, especially when I’d argue it’s going to have a steep decline for its actual creations, and the whole leftward shift of Disney itself doesn’t help either.
But on the other hand, it may give us a rare opportunity to actually ALLOW for the original theatrical release of A New Hope to be released to the public, all the pre-Han Shot First edits and all (Lucas has been notorious for either heavily editing that film or otherwise if he does release the original format doing so in a zoomed in manner that makes it unwatchable).
FoxNews was already doomed to the liberalism cancer even before this Disney sale.........Have long been curtailing my time weatching them.
Disney isn’t buying the news biz or the print media, IIRC.
