White House pins blame on Hamas following deadly Gaza protests

Israeli troops shot dead dozens of Palestinian protesters on the Gaza border as the US opened its embassy to Israel in Jerusalem, a move that has fueled Palestinian anger and drawn foreign criticism that it undermines peace efforts.

Palestinian Health Ministry officials said 55 protesters were killed and 2,700 injured either by live gunfire, tear gas or other means.

The bloodshed drew calls for restraint from France and Britain, and stronger criticism from others, with Turkey calling it "a massacre".

The White House declined to join in urging Israel to exercise restraint and pinned the blame on Gaza's Hamas group.

Most countries say the status of Jerusalem should be determined in a final peace settlement and that moving their embassies now would prejudge any such deal.

South Africa said it was withdrawing its ambassador to Israel following what it called the "indiscriminate and grave" attack on Monday.

The 55 deaths included at least six people under 18 years of age, including one girl. They also included a medic and a man in a wheelchair.

.

France and Britain called on Israel to show restraint. Britain said it had no plans to move its Israel embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and disagreed with the U.S. decision to do so. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said the U.S. move flouted international law.

Turkey accused Israeli security forces of carrying out a massacre.

"The policy of Israeli authorities to fire irrespective of whether there is an immediate threat to life on Palestinian demonstrators in Gaza, caged in for a decade and under occupation for a half century, has resulted in a bloodbath that anyone could have foreseen," Human Rights Watch said.

I say we employ the same response at our southern border. Kill a few hundred invaders and the rest will get the message.

“”Britain said it had no plans to move its Israel embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and disagreed with the U.S. decision to do so. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said the U.S. move flouted international law.””

Don’t bother calling Washington for help the next time your country is in trouble. The UK and France can just look to each other for that help.

‘’France and Britain called on Israel to show restraint.’’

Last week French police killed a knife-wielding terrorist in Paris. Should they have shown restraint or let the terrorist continue yelling ‘’Allahu Akbar!’’ while stabbing additional French pedestrians?

Did a single foreign government condemn the French for doing what was necessary to protect its citizens? No.

But when Israeli security forces kill Molotov-cocktail-throwing Gaza terrorists to protect Israelis, France and Britain and every other country in the world except the U.S. attacks Israel as if it’s been killing innocent lambs.

No bias there. /s

Israel could have killed 1000’s if they wanted to. That tells me that they did show restraint.

Sounds like my solution to our southern border. Deer stands every 500 yds. Rent them out. No bag limit.

The IDF is on the defensive. If the Palis would go home, nobody would get hurt.

fair enough.
i don’t feel charitable towards the Muslim terrorist Fakestinian killers.... the only charitable thing to do is to send them staight to their Alluh ‘god’ in HELL .. ASAP... which will at least save a lot of other.. and innocent... lives from these Satanic basturds.

saving innocent lives is somewhat charitable... otherwise I agree with your note. thanks

and stronger criticism from others, with Turkey calling it “a massacre”

Just a massacre, not an Armenian type genocide?.

I cannot understand why Israel has not built a similar wall on it’s Gaza border that they did along the West Bank ? Why go with the wimpy little fence and concertina wire ? The wall seems to work great . The Pals can crash against it all they want without ill effect .

Hamas supporters in Gaza held the world’s first peaceful protest with hand grenades, pipe bombs, cleavers and guns. Ten explosive devices were peacefully detonated. There were outbursts of peaceful gunfire and over a dozen kites carrying firebombs were sent into Israel where they started 23 peaceful fires. And Israeli soldiers peacefully defended their country leaving multiple Hamas attackers at peace.
