I’ve heard that if he dies before the end of the month, the person appointed by the governor serves out the rest of the term, otherwise the appointee only serves until the general election in November.
I think mccain stated, some days ago/ weeks ago/ he did not want his successor to be chosen in a special election... which I think meant he wanted to choose his successor?
