Trump should respond to the subpena in writing: You are fired.
Mueller is a world class a-hole. Trump should ignore him.
I prefer what he did to Comey, wait until he's out of town and tweet his dismissal as you clean out his office. Wire him some plane tickets and take away the plane on his return trip.

My suggestion would be to answer the questions in writing and when sending them to Mueller, release to the public at the same time. The President’s schedule should over rule that of the Special Counsel.
Trump should immediately suspend mueller and all his cronies for 1 week for insubordination. Make him sign a counseling letter acknowledging that he is an employee of the executive branch of the United States and as such he is to remain subordinate to the executive at all times. If he refuses to sign counseling dismiss him for cause. Better yet direct Rod Rosenstein to counsel him. Remember there is no other statutory outlet to appoint a special counsel. Trump is the only game in town.
