Reuters reports that Comcast is speaking with investment bankers about obtaining bridge financing for an all-cash offer. Its waiting for a federal judge to issue a ruling next month in the Justice Departments challenge to the AT&T-Time Warner merger before making its move, the news organization says.
Media analyst Rich Greenfield predicted Comcast would make another run at Fox, in part because the deal would give Disney unprecedented control over the legacy media landscape. The combined film studios account for more than 40% of the domestic box office, and Disneys control of ESPN and Foxs regional sports networks would give it serious leverage in negotiations with pay TV companies. This calculus doesnt even take into account the competitive threat of the tech giants, which have direct relationships with consumers and billions to spend on content.

If they were to ‘vanilla-out’ Fox....someone else would just walk in and create it all over again, and the money spent on this, would have been totally wasted.
For me, there’s not much worth watching on FOX any more. I only watch two shows. One’s been renewed, one’s on the bubble. So I spend 44 hrs a year watching FOX. Maybe 22 next year.
if you cannot beat them buy them
Oh boy, another reason to hate Comcrap!
The SEC should flat turn this deal down. Too much predatory monopolistic corporate behavior these days.
I keep wondering where the SEC is on this stuff? Doesn't Disney own ABC? and Comcast NBC? NEITHER should be allowed to also own Fox. It's anti-competitive on it's face.
And oh... Two years ago, I triumphantly dumped Time Warner Cable (my ONLY internet option) in favor of the ATT fiber. So, now what happens? ATT buys TWC! I'm right back with the same A-holes. ENOUGH!
The SEC needs to protect consumers.
In contrast Disney owns ABC and ESPN, and merger with Time Warner would bring it CNN, HBO, and a bunch of smaller channels.
One (Disney / Time Warner) would control a news network, a major national network, and a bunch of content creators/broadcasters. (Comcast / Fox) would control two of the four major national networks and about four news networks. They would own nearly all of the major TV news business. It doesn't compare.
I thought Comcast was in trouble losing customers left and right.
The leftists are certainly desperate to get FoX taken away!
And some Conservative billionaire does not do this to Facebook or Twitter BECAUSE???
The way the left dealt with the threat of conservative talk radio was to divest the ABC Radio Network and fracture the syndicates, spreading talk radio across Citadel, Clear Channel, Cumulus, Salem, and others.
Now, the way to deal with Fox News apparently is for Comcast/NBC to buy them out.

Why is this not a monopoly that needs breaking up?
Wow, I had no idea...
With everything NBC and Telemundo -- along with all of the major affiliates -- Fox doesn't stand a chance to keep their editorial content viable. They would be wiped out.
