The Donald Trump administration approved New Hampshires waiver, becoming the fourth state to implement work requirements for Medicaid. New Hampshire Republican Gov. Chris Sununu said in a statement on Monday:
Work requirements help lift able-bodied individuals out of poverty by empowering them with the dignity of work and self-reliability while also allowing states to control the costs of their Medicaid programs. They help people gain the skills necessary for long-term independence and success.
Sununu added, Todays announcement by CMS authorizing New Hampshires Medicaid work requirements is a transformative step towards a more thriving workforce.
New Hampshire became the fourth state to implement work requirements behind Arkansas, Indiana, and Kentucky. Under New Hampshires waiver, able-bodied adults without dependents aged 19 to 64 will have to complete 100 hours a month of employment, education, job skill training, or community service to obtain Medicaid.
The waiver also requires that Medicaid recipients who make more than 100% of the poverty level submit co-pays for medical treatment.
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma cheered the approval of New Hampshires waiver in a statement on Monday, saying, Honored to sign New Hampshires Medicaid community engagement program today. I congratulate Gov. Chris Sununus commitment to join me in improving the lives of Medicaid beneficiaries by creating a crucial link to work and community engagement.

Diet,Drug testing,Citizenship,40 hour work weeks, and a Clean criminal record should be required for all Medicaid programs.
Amen! How radical.
Gov. Chris Sununu?? Is he John Sununu’s little boy?
Forgive my being so flippant, but, political dynasties seem to be found in many places.
He’s one of the old man’s sons. The other son, John, was the United States Senator.
He couldn’t win a Senate seat where lefties have the advantage. They can spit it out. Governors have to be the bad guy when it’s called for. That means they need an adult in charge.
Gov. Chris Sununu?? Is he John Sununus little boy?
Yes he is. He’s more of a RINO than his father but I’ll take him over a Democrat any day.
That’s a start. Long way to go.
If not for living on the Left Coast I would seriously consider a seasonal second home in New Hampshire. I’m just getting too old to cross the continent twice a year with the Pets. Also I have no interest in the New Hampshire winters November - April to make it a full year gig. That’s just me.
Chris Sununu has been in my restaurant several times up here in North Conway NH. Hes got a good personality and throws in little jokes when he speaks. He may not be as good as his father but he signed concealed carry pretty soon after being sworn in and he has an adorable family. I think his wife might be second only to Melania for classiest/beautiful wife for an elected official.
His father was wonderful with a mean streak when we needed it. We still do. I think he should of run for the Senate, even at his age.
