Gators are pretty hardy. They are native to Oklahoma and Arkansas. They can survive in the cold for a while, as long as they can break the ice to get air. PA would finish them off.

I recall some time back that in Maine there was a Anaconda on the loose. Has to be Floridaman dropping off critters up north.

PA isn't immune as well.

We fired our cannon ‘til the barrel melted down
So we grabbed an alligator and we fired another round
We filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his behind
And when we touched the powder off the gator lost his mind

Some entrepreneur should start a fast-food franchise based on alligator meat.

Problem solved.

“”Governments, at all levels, don’t hire the sharpest tools.””

You left out:

“”The minute that it seen a person it immediately, you now,””

Well, it seems newspapers don’t hire the brightest/sharpest people either, you NOW!!!!

BE, have you seen them? They’re a mile or so from Neptune. Right on Rifle Range Road (Elmore County Hwy 4) in the swamp right after the Hwy 229 stop sign and past the industrial park.

No, but now I am going to look when I am down that way next!

-—started to hiss and come toward the person——

My hiking buddy and I had such an encounter on a very narrow trail on Cumberland Island. The island was once rice patties and now the dikes between the flooded former fields are trails in some locations.

The gator turned toward us and hissed, showing the inside of his white mouth. There was nothing of substance to throw at it. It made no move to leave it’s spot in the sun and clearly wouldn’t move.
we backtracked.....defeated by an alligator and thus added 3 miles to our total for the day through boring woods.

A rule of thumb for gator length is eyes to nostrils x 12. In the photos the distance could be closely approximated to 12 inches meaning the gator was on the order of 12 feet overall.

in the photos we had a good
