Following reports of an increase in aggressive tactics in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids throughout New York, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo last week issued a cease and desist letter to halt the enforcement actions or he says he will commence legal action.

Your agents did not have a warrant to enter Mr. Collins’s property nor did they identify themselves or their purpose for being there. They handcuffed him and threatened to arrest him for properly exercising his constitutional rights

What constitutional rights? He's an illegal alien.

This one is a grey area to me.
While I think Cuomo’s karma will result in his state overrun by MS13, I don’t think that law enforcement can just throw out the fourth amendment by assuming that a property is inhabited by a non-citizen with no rights. Your place could be next. The exchaust for not getting a warrant would be, “we thought an illegal was present”.
Just sayin’.

Then he must not be wanting to enforce gun control laws or any other sorts, forgive me?

As we were repeatedly told during the Obama administration - the fed has total and absolute authority over immigration actions.

Not the states.

Get bent Cuomo.

Andy Cuomo should “cease and desist” his insufferable grandstanding.

What a tool.

So can say, Iowa do that to the EPA enforcement agents? Or how about Texas to ATF officials? Or for that matter, Louisiana to the FBI?

Just asking. For a friend.

Very interesting can of worms they are trying open.

“This one is a grey area to me.”

I suspect that the facts when they finally come out, will be different than they are as stated here. This smacks of political grandstanding.

There was a day when New York State Governors at least gave the appearance of being gentlemen and law-abiding. I guess that day is long gone.

I doubt cuomo is accurately representing what happened. I'll further bet they had sufficient probable cause or even a warrant and did announce their identity upon entry. ICE does not operate like the doj/fbi, they actually have people with integrity.

>>Governor Andrew M. Cuomo last week issued a cease and desist letter to halt the enforcement actions or he says he will commence legal action.

Red State Governors need to remember this past year if the Progs ever get the FedGov to ban firearms or to seriously restrict them. The precedent has been set that States’ Rights can even overrule the enumerated duties of the FedGov.

In fact, some ballsy governor should file a suit to declare silencers legal in his state. Let’s start playing this game to our advantage.

The farm worker would be, not Collins.

Collins filming the ICE agents or questioning their being on his property seems to be part of the issue here. I can see that agents should interact proactively with land owners and the accusation of a heavy handed approach is far too believable.

Still, I’m not gonna trust anyone to give the straight story in cases like this. Not the press and certainly not government officials on either side.

In a speech he gave a week or two ago about ICE enforcement, he said that he was an immigrant.

I think ICE should take him at his word and ask too see his papers.
