Leadership Event Shows Republican Party the Media 'Won't Admit' Exists
Townhall.com ^ | May 1, 2018 | Cortney O'Brien

There were hundreds of African American, Asian American, and Hispanic American conservative leaders and activists in what was a standing-room only crowd at the RNC's LEAD Right Leadership Luncheon last week.

"The liberal media and the left wouldn’t want to admit it, but this is what the Republican Party looks like," RNC Spokesman Steve Guest said.

Among the speakers were RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, Pastor Darrell Scott, former Trump campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson, and former presidential candidate Herman Cain.

During her remarks, McDaniel shared a story about Clarence Henderson, a African-American civil rights activist who converted from Democrat to Republican.

"Recently I asked Clarence to share his story about becoming a Republican," McDaniel shared. "He told me that after years of voting Democrat, he investigated the promises they had made and not kept.

McDaniel wrote an op-ed about Henderson for Fox News in February, sharing his own words about why he switched parties.

After years of voting for the Democratic Party based upon indoctrination and relying on what others said, I began to investigate all of the promises they had made and not kept. At the same time, I researched the Republican Party and what they had done to advance the cause for African-Americans. I saw that the values of the party lined up with my beliefs. I knew I was a Republican when I voted for George W. Bush.

The RNC is hoping to keep informing the African-American community about the efforts Republicans have made for jobs and the economy, especially in light of tax reform. She shared their engagement efforts in Ohio as an example.

"In Ohio, we heard from our team on the ground that minorities, in particular, wanted to learn more about starting and expanding small businesses. So we put together workshops with a representative from the Small Business Administration to answer their questions and help them navigate the process."

In Detroit, they hosted a tax reform panel discussion with African American community leaders to discuss the benefits of tax cuts.

Recently, rapper Kanye West shared his own political musings in which he appeared to warm to the Republican Party. Kanye expressed his support and "love" for President Trump on Twitter, while sharing quotes from prominent conservatives. Then, his friend and fellow artist Chance the Rapper tweeted, "black people don't have to be Democrats."

Perhaps the tide is turning against the unfounded stereotypes Republicans have for too long had to endure.

Trump brought courage to the party, but the Leadership is entrenched and resistant. May they see defeat.

Not the first time that oppressive security was chosen over dangerous freedom. But what’s security for the GOP is both dangerous and oppression for the rest of us.

Blacks one time thought the great Republican president "Father" Abraham Lincoln was the greatest man and when they could vote they voted Republican.

After the Civil War, there were numerous Black Republicans voted into office in the south ... in the south!

Then the democrats put on a huge con and made themselves the "saviors" of the Blacks, convincing them all that their problems were all due evil Republicans.

It was Republicans who freed them, gave them the vote, made them equal in the eyes of Constitution, voted for civil rights in the 60s when nearly every democrat voted to keep them held down.

It was Andrew Jackson who cruelly kept slaves wearing leather neck collars emblazoned with his own name. It was LBJ who made sure that he economically forced Black fathers out of taking care of their own children. It was Obama who promised the moon to all Blacks in return for their vote and gave them nothing but crap.

Thank God Donald Trump is our president.

They must be defeated.
Bush League Republicans are committed to amnesty and open borders.
If they are not replaced they will continue to obstruct enforcement and border security.

What always astonishes me is why EVERY black in this country isn’t against the invasion from the south.

They will be kicked aside by the Dems———again, and replaced.

One of my favorite ways to infuriate Libs: Point out that, in 160 years of both parties in existence, EVERY SINGLE race-based federal law was pushed and passed by Democrats. Every one. Slavery, Jim Crow, Affirmative Action, and preferences for minorities in: hiring, government contracts, college admissions, housing, loans, etc etc etc. NOT ONCE has the Republican Party been behind a race-based law. For 160 years, the GOP has ALWAYS stood for all Americans being treated equally under the law, no matter what their skin tone. Offer them a free pizza and beer if they can find one law... just one.... ever... that the GOP pushed and passed, that treated Americans differently based on race. They cannot, but they also are utterly incapable of owning their own long and proud tradition of treating people differently by race.

(To anger a Conservative, tell them a lie. To anger a Liberal, tell them the truth.)

Their inevitable response is that, somehow, the parties magically switched sides overnight in 1964 (although they can never seem to name the night LOL), so I ask if that it is now somehow okay to treat races differently because of that supposed Grand Flip Flop? Then I enrage them further by pointing out that the 1964 Civil Rights Act had a higher percentage of Republicans voting for it than Dems... Between the 2 Houses, 75% of those who voted "Nay" were Dems... vocally led by Albert Arnold Gore Sr (D-TN).

1964 Civil Rights Act:
HOUSE:
Dems: 152 yeas and 96 nays (61% support)
GOP: 138 yeas and 34 nays (80% support).

SENATE:
(after the longest filibuster in Senate history, by Dems)
Dems: 46 yeas, 21 nays (69% support)
GOP: 27 yeas, 6 nays (82% support).

TOTALS: 157 Nays... 117 of those were Dems... that's 74.5% of those opposed.

1965 Voting Right Act:
HOUSE:
Dems: 221 yeas and 61 nays (78% support)
GOP: 112 yeas and 24 nays (82% support).

SENATE:
(after the longest filibuster in Senate history, by Dems)
Dems: 47 yeas, 16 nays (75% support)
GOP: 30 yeas, 2 nays (94% support).

TOTALS: 103 Nays... 77 of those were Dems... that's 74.8% of those opposed.

I am looking forward to the day when a bunch of people realize that they have been lied to.

Is that ever going to be something.

I think the race base political thing is the wrong political road to go down. Let the Democrats have the race politics. Yuk.

... he investigated the promises they had made and not kept.

In the bible; there is a group of folks who investigated what was being told to them, to see if it were true.

They were called "more noble" for their efforts.
