“The conservatives who continued to attack Mr Trump after he won the Republican nomination made a serious mistake.”
How would you distinguish between “attack(ing) Mr. Trump” and “holding President Trump accountable?”
All too often what I read at FR is the attitude that Trump is immune to ANY criticism, and such expressions reveal that to many here Trump is someone infallible to be worshiped, an idol who may not be viewed objectively. I am delighted to praise POTUS when he is right in my view, but I am also comfortable in criticizing him when he does not.
It's not difficult, the attack dogs cannot avoid personal attacks and reveal their sanctimony and arrogance. That's what they call holding him accountable. That's the voters job and they will do it much better than these insufferable twits in the media and among the Republican establishment.
