I went to CA just before the Clean Air bill was signed in the 1970s. The air was really bad.
I went back in the 1990s and boy did I notice a huge change in the air.
It was a Republican who signed that bill.
And, it was a Republican governor who got the ball rolling to clean up San Francisco Bay when it was a cesspool.
Just say'n.

I was in San Diego when they banned smoking in restaurants and bars.
Walked into a Pacific beach place I used to go to and noticed a difference without realizing immediately why everything was so much better.
Then it hit me. World of difference for the better.

Same here.
You couldn't see the mountains even if you were just a mile away from them. Unless, of course, you had just experienced a rainstorm. But that clearness would only last for the day. I would be at one end of the valley and watch the brown cloud march slowly closer and closer after a rainstorm until at the end of the day, my ability to see the mountains had been stolen from me again.

0bama wanted cars to average 54 mpg by 2025. Nuttier than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
