Deaths due to Infections Acquired in Hospitals is preventable and is far more serious and numerous, and more costly when death is prevented than deaths in traffic crashes or from guns ... including suicides.
So why are some medical providers trying to draw attention away from them and toward less numerous causes of death?
We need Medical Device control... Oh, we have extremely heavy and costly medical device control ... and still that inanimate object is causing more deaths than uncontrolled guns.

Papa always told me to sit in the rear of the aircraft.
Mama always told me to schedule any invasive test for first procedure of the day (after there was plenty of time overnight for NON-RUSHED, proper and thorough cleaning and sterilization of equipment.

I transported a patient who, 5 years ago, got a knee transplant which promptly was infected with MERSA.
5 years and 4 failed knee transplants later he now has a solid ‘spacer’ in place of a knee and can’t bend his leg at all.
I transported him to an Infectious Disease clinic.
Poor guy.

Every century or so the medicos look back at their past practices in disgust.
This time will be no different.

In some cases, disposable, single-use scopes are an option, and new products are starting to gain acceptance. Yuck, if I have to have a procedure I'm going to demand a disposable single use scope. Don't want someone else's disease!

gotta wonder if diseases such as aids, hepatitis, syphilis etc etc can be transmitted by these scopes as well
I always wondered how they cleaned these damned torture devices- now the answer seems to be ‘not very well at all’
