I don’t think that Cosby has ever been a saint; but I think that a lot of women ‘back in the day’ willingly agreed to sketchy situations or put themselves in risky ones for what they thought they may have been able to gain by association with a rich and powerful man.

My attitude towards Cosby is much the same as my attitude towards Harvey Weinstein. Both are sleazy sexual predators - Cosby is probably the worse of the two since there's no reason to doubt so many independent stories of his use of drugs to make the whole conquest process easier for him. That being said, most of the women involved probably aren't the naive, innocent victims that they make themselves out to be. If they were, they would have reported sexual assault to the police years earlier instead of going to the media years later. In reality, most knew what they were getting into, went along with it to advance their careers, and felt dirty and guilty about it afterwards.

I’m not buying the ‘dirty and guilty’ stuff, because that would be a reason to continue to keep it to oneself.

They waited so long to tell about these incidents that I can’t help but think the prospect of a payout is a main motivator.
