James Comey's "A Higher Loyalty" had a very big opening week.
Flatiron Books announced Tuesday that sales topped 600,000 copies, a number that includes print, audio and e-books.

Is there anyone in publishing who can say, for a typical book deal with a politician like Comey, what 600K in sales means in terms of earnings for him?
Hillary: “If you clear me, I’ll buy a half a million copies of any book you write”.
There was a caller on Rush’s show last week. He said he submitted a review of Comey’s book and his review was not listed. He said Amazon was only listing 4 or 5 star reviews. Rush’s staff tried to submit 1,2 and 3 star reviews and they were rejected. So yeah, Amazon is fixing the reviews.
Remember that many of these are shelf-sales by places like B&N to get books on the shelf. I wonder what the e-book/print purchase ratio is.

I’m thinking many ordered it a while back, including the media. They’re likely regretting it now, since it’s not the silver impeachment bullet they thought it would be.
It helps when Every School District orders a Few Hundred
Publishers usually base their “sales” number on shipments to retailers and libraries. Retailers usually have the right to return unsold books for a refund. So, this number is subject to easy manipulation. And publishers almost never publicly reveal the number of returns for refund.
Its like Hillary’s Books, they sell millions, but you Never see anyone with one in their library.

Harry Potter, another book of fantasy, sold more. Comey needs to learn how to write better fiction. Perhaps J.K. Rowling can give him some pointers.
