Strong acid is nasty stuff. But the a strong base is really more fearsome. A strong base devours organic matter like there ain't no tomorrow.

That's why they "hot tank" steel and iron engine blocks in lye, because nothing else eats away the carbon and oil deposits as well. Your body is carbon, and merely a appetizer to a strong base.

Side note: don't "hot tank" an aluminum head or block in lye. It will devour the aluminum.

Yup. I've had engine blocks cleaned this way before rebuilding engines. Clean as a whistle, prior to that clogged block passages caused overheating, afterwards the rebuilt engines ran very cool. Had this done to fuel tanks also to remove jellied gas. Can only imagine it dissolving a human body.
