Firstly, note that it's "alleged" - hold off on the accusations until we're sure

Secondly, even if it's true, the guy has lived in Germany since 1997, so presumably stopped being Os' bodyguard before 1997. Before 1997 Os was not a fugitive from US (or western) justice - that came after teh 1998 US embassy bombings in Africa.

O's attacks before 1998 were directly at secular arab dictators like Saddams etc. or against the Soviets - remember this?

Osama turned on tehUSA after American troops were posted on Saudi soil in 1991 -- it angered him and other jihadis as "no infidel soldier should set foot on holy soil"

OBL was born in March 1957 to a Syrian mother who was highly westernized.
That means in March 1970 he was 13....
In 1976 - 1981 bin laden attended school in Jeddah Saudi Arabia...where a guy named Azzam with a Syrian and Egyptian education taught until 1979.
A Russian-backed communist coup - the Saur Revolution- overthrew Afghanistan’s president in the spring of 1978 and the Russians sent advisors in to help the Afghan communists hold power.
January 1979 marked revolution in Iran.
1978 the Soviets still had advisors in Afghanistan supporting the revolutionary communist government.
November 1979 the US embassy was stormed in Iran and American hostages taken by a movement led by Iraq-backed Ayatollah Khomeini.
In November 1979 the Grand Mosque in Mecca was seized by terrorists. French special forces were brought in to take the mosque back.
And when the Russians invaded Afghanistan in late 1979, bin Laden was 22 yrs old and a complete nobody living in Saudi Arabia but under the influence of Palestinian educators.
In 1980 he was still a rich kid attending school in Saudi Arabia and the Russians were still in Afghanistan giving Carter the bird.
Carter lost the election in late 1980.
In 1981 when Reagan was inaugurated, bin Laden was still in school and the Russians were still in Afganistan.

They Russians were losing and began leaving in May 1988 when bin Laden was 31.
Azzam, a Syrian-and-Egyptian-educated Palestinian cleric from Jordan founded al Qeada in August of 1988 - in Pakistan - while the Russians were well into their withdrawal from Afghanistan, with the goal of creating an global Islamic empire. Bin Laden was still a second fiddle of Azzam’s at the time, up until Azzam assumed room temp in 1989 in a car bomb blast in Pakistan, after the Soviets had withdrawn from neighboring Afghanistan in Feb 1989, shortly before bin Laden’s 32nd birthday.
With Azzam out of the way, bin Laden was able to take over the organization and remake it using the most radical members.
The reason alQaeda was so against the US in Saudi Arabia had less to do with the sacredness of the place to Islam than it did with the presence of the US being an obstacle to overthrowing the Saudi government.
