Exactly - plenty of Irish slaves picked cotton. Large numbers of Irish slaves picked sugar cane.
The proper response to culture bullies is to tell them to get stuffed.

Cripes sake! When I was 14-16 years old I picked Tobacco as did almost all the kids in our town and we were all white! I never saw any Blacks just a few P.R.'s and it was good money for us poor white trash. I doubt if few or any Blacks living today have ever gotten a tobaccco rash in their lives.
