Earth Day is similar to Kwanza. Two needless, made up, unrequested ‘holidays’ meant to point out what we’re supposed to be doing wrong. Two holidays that the vast majority don’t pay any attention to.
Abandon Earth Day? Where else would you go?
There’s nothing wrong with environmental awareness. A century or more ago it was recognized that it was better to locate a camp’s latrine down stream from where drinking water was gathered.
40 years ago paper mills dumped effluent into two rivers in my area. Upstream from the mills was clean and fairly clear water. Once the effluent hit the river the water turned a putrid brown.
Other examples of excessive pollution are the acid rain that changed the biology of the Copper Hill TN basin, the Cleveland River fire and the old LA smog days, plus many, many more examples that have been remedied.
Pollution is not climate change. Environmental awareness is common sense for an improved quality of life.
If memory serves, E-day celebrations leave behind mountains of trash.
I’m way, way ahead on this trend.
I abandoned Earth Day on the day that it started.

As for the rest of the Earth - I guess they didn't get the memo
I could post another 1000 of images just like this, current as of today, from such garden spots as India, Pakistan and so on. Earth Day truly is a giant anti-Capitalist movement in N/A. The dream of a clean planet is not.
