Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe sent emails to then-Director James Comey alerting him he planned to push back against negative news coverage related to his oversight of probes into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a lawyer for McCabe said on Friday.
In an interview with reporters, Michael Bromwich said the emails could help clear McCabe of allegations by the Justice Department’s internal watchdog that McCabe “lacked candor” with Comey by misleading him into thinking McCabe did not authorize disclosures to a newspaper to combat articles about his wife’s political campaign and his role in overseeing an investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
Those Oct. 21 and 23 emails, Bromwich said, were “specifically alerting Director Comey to the fact that a Wall Street Journal reporter was asking around about Dr. McCabe’s political campaign and that McCabe was going to be working with people in the bureau to push back on the story and help shape the story.”
Bromwich added that his firm, along with the law firm Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, are considering filing civil claims on McCabe’s behalf that could include wrongful termination, defamation and constitutional due process issues.

If people are "fallible" and memories are imperfect, why is Flynn being charged?
If McCabe has those emails, then he’s guilty of removing government documents from the FBI premises. If he didn’t remove them, and they actually exist, then the FBI should have possession of them somewhere. Let’s see how long it takes the FBI/DOJ to turn those documents over to Congress.
Even if true, he can’t say that Comey forced him to make false sworn statements to the DOJ IG....
He’s going to need a bigger “Go Fund Me” campaign after hiring the law firm Boies Schiller Flexner LLP.

Precisely, and McCabe’s repeated and shifting false statements are evidence of concealment of willful misconduct he knew was wrong.
If Comey as Director knew McCabe wanted to make McCabe-serving leaks to the press, contrary to FBI rules and with no legitimate FBI purpose, would that exonerate McCabe? Of course not; it makes them both guilty! I’m not sure a judge would even allow McCabe to plead not-guilty and present this crap in court as a defense, because it contains an inherent admission of guilt. I hope he tries.
