Trump slams California Gov. Brown for sending ‘do-nothing’ National Guard to border
The Washington Times ^ | April 19, 2018 | Dave Boyer

President Trump warned California Gov. Jerry Brown that he’ll cut off federal funding for the deployment of California’s National Guard if the governor insists that the troops “do nothing” instead of enforcing immigration laws.

“Governor Jerry Brown announced he will deploy ‘up to 400 National Guard Troops’ to do nothing,” Mr. Trump tweeted. “The crime rate in California is high enough, and the Federal Government will not be paying for Governor Brown’s charade. We need border security and action, not words!”

Mr. Brown mobilized 400 National Guard members Wednesday to fight gangs and smugglers as part of the president’s efforts to strengthen border security. But the Democratic governor said the state’s national guard would not enforce immigration policy.

Jerry Brown is a do-nothing Liberal wacko so what else would we expect from a RAT bottom-feeder or any other wackos in the CA Assembly?

Screw that.

Use the Presidential authority to nationalize the Kalifornia Guard, then order them to the border. Those that fail to comply arrest and try for missing movement and failure to follow a lawful order. If you get any interference from the Gov, use the guard to arrest him.

Could they federalize them? Thought there was some sort of precedent where the state willfully disregarded a federal law and their NG was put under federal control.

The answer is simple, NG troops do as the President says and ignote Moon Beam.

If they are the state guard, then they answer to Jerry. If they’re national guard, they answer to Trump. If they wish to continue receiving their paychecks, they better do as their boss demands.

Send in regular military. Border protection doesn’t violate the Posse comitatus act. Border defense and repelling foreign invaders is spelled out in the US Constitution as responsibility of the federal government.

So federal government, start doing your f****** job, the job that your President orders you to do, has a legal obligation to do, has a Constitutional obligation to enforce, and defend that border!

There are specific laws about activation of the NG.

I’m no expert but Title 10 is federalization and Title 32 is state activation and different circumstances apply.

Isn’t the president their commander in chief once they are activated?

It seems to me that once they report for duty, it doesn’t make any difference what limitations Jerry Brown wants to place on their activities.

It depends under which Title they’re activated, see my post #12.

They are state Guard until they are called up by the Pres Trump. Once he calls them up they are National Gaurd, then D.T. is their Commander, and Moon Beam, gets the “Magic Widget Digit”!

All the reports I have read or seen say that these are National Guard Troops, which means they are paid with federal tax dollars. It seems to me that the president of the United States would be their boss.

I think the State Guard and the National Guard are two different entities. I do not think all states have a State Guard (aka State Defense Forces).
