Former British PM David Cameron says he doesn't regret the Brexit referendum

Former British Prime Minister David Cameron says he doesn't regret calling a referendum on the UK's membership of the European Union -- but wishes the result had gone the other way.

"I made a promise to the British people -- I kept that promise," he told CNN's Christiane Amanpour in his first major broadcast interview since resigning in 2016, to mark the release of a report on development in fragile states by a committee he co-chairs.

Cameron's fateful decision to call the referendum led to his political downfall and left his successor, Theresa May, with a diplomatic tangle that has plagued her shaky government. Brexit negotiations have been fraught, and key sticking points remain outstanding less than a year before Britain is due formally to leave the EU.

Cameron, who campaigned to stay in the EU, continues to believe the outcome of the vote was a mistake. "I think we've taken the wrong course," he said.

It’s the left that opposes having the British people express their wishes.

Well, the Left knows what’s best for one and all - be it in the UK or the US.

I highly recommend you turn yourself in for thought crimes!

That's very true, Mr. Cameron. The UK took the "wrong course" by electing you and then your fellow Labour-lite Prime Minister Teresa May as the leader of the "Conservative" Party. Your country would be a much stronger position now if they had an actual conservative government instead of one that parrots the Labour Party's talking points.

Cameron is the polar opposite of Hillary Clinton.
David C. stays in the background, and does not tour Great Britain shaking his fist at “What Happened” like some people.

They took the wrong turn with John Major. Come to think of it, Thatcher winning the leadership post was probably the only time post-Churchill the Tories did the right thing.
