President Donald Trump will speak at the Naval Academy commissioning ceremony next month in Annapolis, city officials confirmed Wednesday.
It will be Trumps first time speaking to the academys graduating class, as last year Vice President Mike Pence gave the address. Graduation will be held at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium at 10 a.m. May 25 with a Blue Angels fly-over to begin the ceremony.
The City of Annapolis will be cooperating with the secret service to provide security for Trumps visit, said Susan OBrien, city spokeswoman.
The city is not yet confirming which roads will be closed for the presidents visit. They will release a full schedule of traffic modifications closer to the commencement date, said Cpl. Amy Miguez, police spokeswoman.
Trump did not attend last years commissioning ceremony, as he was in Sicily for the Group of Seven summit. This broke with precedent both presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama set in their first years in office. Trump instead spoke to the graduating cadets at the Coast Guard Academy the week before.

He picked the best.
The US Navy: A Global Force For Good!
I’m waiting for a few #NeverTrumps or #MeToos to create problems and seek attention. Maybe that won’t be happening here at all. He is our president now. No longer just a candidate.
These soon to be Nav Officers will hoot and holler for their soon to be Commander in Chief and there wont be no denying it
Also newly commissioned Marine Corps officers! More than 200 of each year’s Naval Academy class is entering the Marine Corps. One year recently I recall the number was around 270.
Don't close any. It's an open air stadium.
Marine one just lands in the middle of that big grassy field. As soon as President Trump and Melania exit the chopper, the Blue Angels do their fly over.
Our church family is very proud to have a 1st Class Midshipman who will be amongst the graduates. He picked “Nuclear Officer - Surface Nuclear Navy” as his MOS. Smart young man.
Thanks for the info.
Ok, USAF guy will say I am happy the President will be giving the Navy some love. :)
I have a suggestion for Pres Trump:
Please bring to the podium the pilot of the Southwest airplane that had the engine failure yesterday>
SHE is a former NAVY FIGHTER PILOT & she kept her cool. First fatality for Southwest in over 51 years.
She would be a perfect addition to the podium, IMO.
Go, President Trump!
A rare day of pride and inspiration for my beleaguered state.
Come on, Maryland, get aboard the Trump Train and help our great POTUS MAGA!!!
I remember President Bush came to do the Class of 1991s commencement right after the Gulf War. We had Vice President Quayle in 1992, about a week after his Murphy Brown speech.
Word is, in deep state perspective, the Coast Guard, Navy and Marines are 100% behind Trump. The Air Force and Army, not so much.
Haz Duty pay on subs!
YOU, Joe, are an instigator!
That’ll be cool for the Mids. BEAT NAVY!
We were there last year when my son was commissioned. He picked Marine air but got sub drafted instead. Nuc school is tough, even for an EE grad.
What do you bet he mentions the Southwest 1380 pilot (USN veteran)
