Over the past 2 days I have observed the comments made by NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg about his April 16th meeting with Erdogan and staff; and comments by writers at Foreign Policy Magazine that left me sobered. (not I don't drink)
The Syrian Kurds do understand this.
It is clear that everyone is in denial about reality of Turkey in NATO and the intent of Erdogan the Islamist.
They refuse to comment about the attack on Afrin and the atrocities that followed.
We're whistling past the graveyard about Turkeys future in NATO or the EU.

Russia’s greatest hope is to get Turkey on the side of Syria and Russia. Russia is wanting to get more control over energy pipelines to Europe and over ocean routes in the area. Some of those pipelines run through Turkey and others through Syria. Russia also tried to buy into the big Israel gas field.

Russia also wants control of Istanbul (Constantinople) really bad...and Jerusalem. For those who are aware of some history, the reason is clear.
