Defense Secretary Mattis Wanted Congressional Approval Before Striking Syria. He Was Overruled.
New York Times ^ | April 17, 2018 | Helene Cooper

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis urged President Trump to get congressional approval before the United States launched airstrikes against Syria last week, but was overruled by Mr. Trump, who wanted a rapid and dramatic response, military and administration officials said.

Mr. Trump, the officials said, wanted to be seen as backing up a series of bellicose tweets with action, but was warned that an overly aggressive response risked igniting a wider war with Russia.

Friday night’s limited strikes on three targets, which lasted under two minutes, were the compromise.

Congress and many other parts of our government are not to be trusted with secrets.

When the enemy launches nukes at the cities near the coasts, let’s disable all defenses and wait for congressional approval before responding.

No. Patton would attack America’s enemies and get in the way.

“When the enemy launches nukes at the cities near the coasts, let’s disable all defenses and wait for congressional approval before responding.”

And while waiting for congressional approval, the courts will weigh in...

"Syria hasn’t ever attacked the U.S."

Russia, North Korea and Iran haven't attacked the U.S. on our own soil, either, but they've repeatedly threatened to nuke us while building up their nuclear weapons forces.

Again, let's demand a law keeping our military forces from responding to any nuclear weapons attack on the few lefty/fascist states full of foreign identity constituents without formal congressional approval. That would rid us of the trolling we've been seeing once and for all.

Ukraine and Georgia didn’t attack Russia either.

You’ve been working hard, get home and get some vodka.

Let’s deactivate those worst coast, northeastern and Florida (the other New Yuk) ABM defense systems. Liberaltarians, with their foreign minds full of worms, complained about them and don’t deserve them anyway. We’ll simply defend the Americans in the middle of our country and the better parts of the South.

Problem solved.

How Wars Are Made - Introduction
By Jackie Patru
GENERAL PATTON'S WARNING
Patton said to Patterson: "Let's keep our boots polished, bayonets sharpened, and present a picture of force and strength to the Red Army. This is the only language they understand and respect."

Patterson replied, "Oh, George, you have been so close to this thing so long, you have lost sight of the big picture." Patton rejoined:

"I understand the situation. Their (the Soviet) supply system is inadequate to maintain them in a serious action such as I could put to them. They have chickens in the coop and cattle on the hoof -- that's their supply system. They could probably maintain themselves in the type of fighting I could give them for five days. After that it would make no difference how many million men they have, and if you wanted Moscow I could give it to you. They lived on the land coming down. There is insufficient left for them to maintain themselves going back. Let's not give them time to build up their supplies. If we do, then . . . we have had a victory over the Germans and disarmed them, but we have failed in the liberation of Europe; we have lost the war!"
