Angry youths in a deprived area of the French city of Toulouse have attacked police, torched cars and set fire to garbage during two nights of clashes that have led to 18 arrests, police said Tuesday.

The rioting in the Mirail area of the southern city, a high-crime neighborhood once home to several jihadists, was apparently sparked by the death of a local man in prison and an identity check by police on a veiled woman on Sunday.

After nearly four hours of clashes on Sunday night that saw gangs throw stones at the local police station and set fire to about 10 cars, violence flared again on Monday night.

“Security forces were targeted throughout the night and carried out 18 arrests for violence, arson and insults,” a statement from top local security official Pascal Mailhos said. …

The prisoner committed suicide, but rumors were that prison guards killed him. The Mahometan woman refused to show her ID.

I went to school there for several weeks a decade ago.
Super peaceful beautiful Rose City - no police sirens, safe everywhere you went.

Current events indicate Toulouse and France don’t have much more time.

Ah, the press.
“Rioters”, eh?
Howz about Muslim rioters?
If that’s not too much trouble.

Deprived? Of things like law, order, decency, responsibility...

I would’ve liked to visit Europe while it was still European.
It’s mostly gone now...

I’m beginning to wonder if NATO is really needed anymore. Who would want to invade this Charlie foxtrot?!

Expecting AFP to say “musulman” is like expecting Barack Obama to praise the US Constitution.

Toulouse was a gateway for refugees fleeing France in the summer of 1940. Some got out with help from the Dutch consulate and a freelancing Portuguese diplomat.

What does that tell you about famed “German Engineering”. How could that engineering be considered superior with so many idiots. Maybe thats why VW had to have so may reported mis reportings on their emmissions data.

They SAID "youths"! Only Muslims can be young. Don't you know the euphemisms yet? In Britain, only Muslims can be Asian. Ahem.

Deprived of

The desire to work and make ends meet, the need to be sufficiently educated to be employable, any meaningful reason for memorizing the Koran.

Exactly. Why should we continue to pour untold $billions into NATO
to defend what the Euros won’t defend themselves?

We need to get out of NATO.
There are no free nations left to defend in Western Europe. They are not worth our blood and treasure.
Bring our troops and equipment home.

The EU wants NATO gone. This kind of trouble on the soil of member states is a means to an end, in order to seize more power and consolidate all the national militaries (which is going on under the radar right now; also, Germany has a new NATO headquarters that is utterly independent of the traditional structure). Clinton was the first US president to let the lid on this Pandora’s box pop open just a little, by using NATO in the 1990s for purposes that were never in its remit (Bosnia). Letting them become independent means we have a new enemy to deal with.

The area is “deprived”.

The implicit assumption is that if the area were richer, there would be no rioting.

These riots are not about stuff.

See post 16. This is the old European tactic of creating a problem and imposing a solution. Note that no US troops are being solicited to deal with these deliberately-caused problems, and of course the domestic nonsense that won’t allow Trump to deal with their shenanigans is also caused by the EU.

Yeah; the same old propaganda that Obama staffers used to push.
