She’s just trying to sound tough. Like all the Senate Republicans. There’s not a true Trump supporter among them. Just part-timers.
However, if Trump fires Rosenstein, and he should, then he can interview (with Sessions) potential replacements from within the ranks of the DOJ.
When he finds one he likes, he can make an interim appointment and he’ll be vested with all the power of the position.
He’ll be “the acting” Deputy Attorney General.
And Ms Collins won’t get a vote on that.
If it is someone else in a position at the DOJ that already had to be confirmed by the Senate to that position, would they have to be confirmed again or could they just be moved to that position? It is not a cabinet level position like the top spot.
Trump doesn’t need a deputy AG. If he fires Rosenstein and Mueller, that leaves recused Sessions in place who can’t get involved.
So, it’s over except for a possible impeachment that is not certain in this house. They know the dirty tricks that have been played on Trump.
That would make the midterms crucial.
