I haven't read his theory but I can see how they might. No correlation has been established much less causation but solar activity is known to cause terrific disruptions in the earth's magnetic field. These disruptions are readily observed through various phenomena above the surface but their effect beneath the surface is largely unknown.

What is wrong with positing a theory that Sunspots cause Earthquakes? Someone should do a study to disprove or prove it, that is how Science is advanced.

I'd say there could be a correlation. Same as there is for increased volcanic activity.

During solar minimums, the sun's magnetic field is reduced, allowing the solar wind greater access to our planet. This affects earth's magma and thus increases volcanic activity and perhaps also seepage through cracks in the tectonic plates, their movements, etc.

That's my interpretation of what I've read about this aspect of the effects of the solar wind.
