One big problem for the schools is the consolidation of the textbook industry. It used to be that when picking out textbooks for my jr. high history classes, I’d have dozens to choose from. Five years ago, there were fewer than five, and most of them were from the same publishers.
Homeschoolers buy up old used textbooks because they are much better. The Catholic primary schools use older textbooks also.
