French navy ship equipped with cruise missiles that could strike Assad was 'aggressively buzzed

A Russian warplane this weekend flew over a French warship at low altitude in the eastern Mediterranean, a deliberate breach of international regulations, a French naval source said on Tuesday.

The weekly magazine Le Point said the Russian plane had flown over frigate Aquitaine over the weekend and was fully-armed.

It also added that the Aquitaine could be used in strikes against the Assad regime.

The incident comes as tensions mount between Russia and Western nations following a suspected chemical weapons attack in Syria on April 7. At least 60 people were killed in the attack, according to a Syrian relief agency.

France, the United States and their allies are considering a coordinated military response after accusing the Russia-backed Syrian government of being behind the attack. Damascus and Moscow have denied a chemical attack took place.

The Aquitaine is equipped with 16 cruise missiles and 16 surface-to-air missiles. It is currently operating off Lebanese shores alongside U.S. ships as part of France's contingent fighting Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq.

'The flight took place several days ago,' a French naval source said, adding that France had contacted Russian authorities over the matter.

'Passes by military aircraft over warships are things that happen at sea. When it is deemed too close, the opposing party is notified,' the source said.

The Russian air force has already carried out such 'aggressive' flights over Western warships in the past.

I just do not want the US to get involved in another shithole country that we have no business being involved in, it is enough being in A-Stan we have enough to deal with, getting involved with make things worse.

They tried test shots of their new SS-27’s back in the 90’s.

They couldn’t get them to work.

They got some anyway

They got off some test shots of the SS-29 but still have not acquired any.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-36_(missile)
They still have some ancient liquid fueled SS-9’s, more dangerous to their crews than anyone else after all this time and poor maintenance.

Hope you did not think I was including you being in the “start bombing them all now” FR group.

Oh heck no I did not think that, but it is pissing me off that some people (not you) still do not get it after all these years and have not learned a damn thing since 2003.

Are there any SS-25’s left on active or is it only SS-27’s these days?

Americans shot down? That’s in ancient times. Now it is cruise missiles, stealth bombers and soon, pilotless stealth fighters.

Verifiable evidence, please?

How about professional quality photographs of the dead with their Syrian ID cards lying on their chests?

That's not a valid point.

"All of these were sparked by big-mouth Trump‘s claim that he had the intention to pull troops out of syria."

Yes. President Trump has been learning a thing or two about cause and effect with international bullies, when he speaks a little too much like a politician to appease the tiny faction of anti-American loudmouths. He has also proven with an order to launch some cruise missiles, that he could lead us to show our foreign enemies who's boss. If he resumes that kind of courageous leadership without interruption to shut down the enemy's efforts to get completely established in Syria, he will be our greatest president since the early 1800s.

What's really funny, is the effect that the commies, Nazis and rare rag bags who've been whining since being drafted are having on Democrat politicians and foreign enemies. With their anti-defense, anti-American speech here, they're begging for the U.S.A. to lay down and bait those foreign dictators into starting a nukefest.

This goes back at least to the end of WW1 and the Sykes-Picot Treaty. France and Britain carved up the Middle East without regard to historical boundaries religious affiliations or tribal and family bonds. There will never be peace over there unless or until someone can unravel that Gordian Knot. We need to stay out of there.

That treaty was one of the worst mistakes the Europeans did to the world and now we are paying for it, but then again we kept digging the hole by our involvements and mark my words if Trump gets us into another BS war like the last two leaders, 2020 is gone.

It’s just another operation for us to do because Israel wants it that way. Why can’t they put their assets on the ground if they want their lord of darkness gone so bad? Oh that’s right; they get to lobby us into doing it alongside the MSM, just like they did in Lebanon, Iraq, and all the other countries that mysteriously need to be destabilized for “national security”. I bet the neocons and Israel treat the current UN deliberations like gospel right now and support humanitarianism with such conviction for the poor people of Douma, though they sure didn’t when it served their interests, and Israel sure didn’t when they helped out the West Bank settlers.

When Saddam gassed the Kurds at Halabja during the Iran-Iraq War, we didn’t lift a finger in retaliation, much less form a coalition of all the familiar good guys. This was because Saddam worked with us and we wanted Iran humbled, and we were supplying both sides.

How about ISIS, who was helped out by Turkey, a NATO ally (and probably us in some way) among other militia groups who did the same? They used chemical weapons many times against civilians, much more that that for which the UN is taking Assad to account. Are we to place major sanctions on Turkey and take out all NATO weapons in retaliation? Why hasn’t that happened? Why haven’t we strung up the parts of the deep state and McCain acolytes who quite obviously supported the aforementioned groups?

The hypocrisy is overwhelming. I do not support this action, and I think it is wrong. I can’t believe Trump could possibly back this farce.
It’s time to truly drain the swamp.

Whoa, Bob!

Think it through....

Russia sinking a NATO ship would CAUSE a full-out, potentially nuclear war.

If you love your children, you don’t want it to go there.
