When Missy Owen heard that the non-profit National Safety Council was putting together a memorial for opioid victims called "Prescribed to Death" and was, in effect, looking for personal stories to help put a human face on the crisis, she was excited. I was like, 'oh yes, this is a great idea,' Owen said, This is an awesome project, yes Ill do that! The project would be another way to try and keep the memory of her son Davis alive. Not only that, but it could potentially help make an impact on others in the hopes of one day ending the epidemic that takes 22,000 lives a year. I knew that it would help other people, she said.

Oh good God.
It is not an epidemic. It is man-made, if you will.
These people choose to be obsessed with drugs. It is a moral problem, not a health or natural-disaster problem.
They are not victims, they just made poor decisions.
We don’t need another monument to people that made bad choices.
Remember the Crack Memorial? Yeah, me neither.
Yes some people get addicted to prescribed meds and I think if they are not smart enough to seek help, well that's on them.
The fact that now every first responder is required to carry NarCan or whatever is a just another big pharma cash cow.
Just peachy. My husband has stage 4 cancer and cant get a freaking sleeping pill unless he gives up the pain meds which are helping him get through these last days. Thank you people who want to have a cause because of those who abused the medicine, making it ever tougher for people like my husband. FU all.
Hmmm... I don't remember that one, either. Progs would probably say that makes this one "racist".
All are so called "drug war" did was to slow the process down, but it still seems to be happening.
Logistic growth curve.
I agree about this whole Monument-Epidemic thing. It is inappropriate. Saying it’s just bad decisions is a bit simplistic. A LOT of people get hooked on this crap following accidents etc.
By 1900, about half the male adult population of China was addicted to Opium. Might have been a "moral problem", but it turned into a major National crises for China.
It’s a hand to mouth problem. The Left wants to legalize opioids and now that addictions are now the fault of what, the president?
Hugs for your hubby.
What. The pills forced themselves down their throats?
Dammit! Why do they always have to put a human face on these things?? Why not tell the personal stories of the many dogs, cats, and other critters who have succumbed to opioid addiction? It's discriminatory I tell you!!
Oh I remember when this happened during the Obama admin when this occurred in areas he did not care about. Oh wait, that did not happen.
We need pill control. No one needs these powerful military-style assault pills that come in dangerous 30-pill bottles!
Logarithmic.
Opiods are simply not a constitutional power delegated to the feds.
Go to your freaking state’s capital or start a referendum or initiative or something.
Logistic. It has a limit based on the carrying population, while logarithmic is capable of going to infinity. Real world growth curves cannot reach infinity. They can only go to the point where they are sustainable.
Oh, thanks. If one doesn’t learn something new every day, one might as well lie down and die!
