Progressive Illinois Rep. Declares Constitution Means Nothing

An Illinois technocrat has demonstrated the Progressive attitude about the Constitution and the Second Amendment. Representative Bill Foster has a PhD in Physics from Harvard. He was raised and earned his Bachelor degree in ultra-liberal Madison, Wisconsin.  In his view, the Constitution is a document that can be re-interpreted to mean different things every few years. That is true in a sense. Amendments to the Constitution can be put forward and passed any time. It is clear a constitutional amendment is not what Representative Foster is talking about. From chicagotribune.com:

Flanked by two area high school students, a pediatrician and the mother of a gun violence victim, U.S. Rep. Bill Foster told a community forum audience Monday the Second Amendment should be up for reinterpretation as new generations come into power.

“It always has been up for reinterpretation,” Foster, D-Naperville, said during an event focused on gun violence. “The technology changes, and the weapons thought to be too dangerous to be in private hands change. A civil war cannon is frankly much less dangerous than weapons we are allowed to carry on the streets in many of the states and cities in our country today. This is something where technology changes and public attitude changes and both are important in each of the generations.”

What does “reinterpretation” mean? It means you take the same words in the Constitution, and apply a different meaning to them. If you can do that, the Constitution only means what you want it to mean, when you want it to mean it.

Money, law, views of the supernatural - all must be grounded in something greater than us, and on an agreed upon, unchanging basic nature.

Ignore that, everything is politics, and the result is chaos and slaughter.

He is old and will die off soon. That said, there should be some patriot lawyers who....when libtard say stupid shit like this, they file some articles of impeachment against the guy. He does not support and defend the Constitution......must be eliminated, by law, from serving.

This clown probably would figure it would be better to make us all measure, pour, ram, wad, ram, cock, fire every time.

“It always has been up for reinterpretation,”

Hey dipshit Foster, are the laws of physics up for reinterpretation at your whim? Piss off tosser.

Clearly he's never heard of double canister at 50 yards.

That is why Ben Franklin said that the form of government they gave us was intended for a moral and virtuous people.

Doesn't work with morons.

This man is not stupid; he is evil. He and his kind will not rest until all of us are disarmed and cowering at his feet ... or dead. It’s them or us. There is no longer any possibility of compromise, if there ever was.

Someone I his district should start towing a cannon behind a Jeep up and down the street in front of his home-town office.

Oh, wait, Illinois prohibits open carry. Never mind.

"A civil war cannon is frankly much less dangerous than weapons we are allowed to carry on the streets in many of the states and cities in our country today.”

I dunno, man. Pretty sure getting hit by a 4 pounder cannonball would ruin the rest of my day.

You are absolutely right - and this ignoramous has just verified that he knows nothing about artillery OR small arms. He's probably picturing a single solid shot (fired by a 6 pounder or 12 pounder muzzle loader) striking a single person. In reality, a single shot could take down many men; and if it's an explosove shell, or grape, or cannister, rather than solid shot, you're talking dozens. And the artillery of that era was not limited to field pieces: the Union had 15" Dahlgrens & Rodman columbiads in service (and experimented with 20"), while Confederate artillery (IIRC) reached at least 12.75" bore diameter.

This guy is just another ignorant progressive, who values his own opinions over fact...

With your party’s new Sanctuary city/state attitude guess what, that works both ways. I will pay no attention to your unconstitutional gun laws and interpret the constitution as It suits me.

A mock up cannon perhaps but even that would trigger a snowflake.

The carbon footprint of the jeep might cause some fainting.

Ah Madison, Wisconsin, the largest den of liberal no-minds in the Midwest and more communist professor than any where else in the country per capita..

Wisconsin is a great place to reside but if we could only be rid of the Madison and Milwaukee communist liberal bastards.
