A theory I read is that this will try and trap Trump on the foreign corruption act.
I really doubt Trump has done much bribing because I don’t see huge successes in all the world’s sh*tholes that require bribes.

My theory is that Mueller has a big fat nothing...so his plan is to run amok until Trump is forced to fire him
That is exactly what he is doing.

What are terms and conditions for a HELOC?
Do banks care what you spend the money on as long as they get your home and its free of liens/loans/mortgages.
You could go to Vegas, drop it all on 21 at the roulette table, lose, and the bank would be happy. They got a home that is worth more than the loan.

Allen Dershowitz was sounding the alarm too over this intrusion of privacy without cause. Cohen was cooperating with Mueller so this is pure heavy handed Gestapo like tactics.

" . . . and had to not tell the bank exactly what his home equity loan was intended for."
I'm still confused about the legal issues here. A home equity loan or line of credit is often open-ended, and the borrower often does not have to specify in advance what the loan will be used for, and I'm not sure why it would be "bank fraud" to mislead a bank about your intent. Suppose you tell them you want to re-do your kitchen, then change your mind and decide to buy a car. Is that bank fraud?

Complete garbage, this is all misdirection. It’s a politically motivated witch hunt supported by the gopE.

So many laws on the books, they’re sure to find something to charge him with. (I was going to say ‘trumped-up,’ but it just didn’t sound right...)

"Do banks care what you spend the money on as long as they get your home and its free of liens/loans/mortgages."
That is also my question. I've had several home equity loans over the years, and don't remember having to promise to use the loan for a specific purpose. I still get ads from banks offering home-equity loans and lines of credit, and they have no idea what my needs might be.

Ditto.
Have banks emailing me, calling on the phone offering lines of credit all the time. They NEVER ask personal questions as to how or on what it will be spent. All they know is I have good credit and it is a win-win for them.
Cohen did not commit bank or wire fraud.

What would Cohen have to do with taxi medallions? From how long ago? 1998?
Mueller is one sick jerk.

...his plan is to run amok until Trump is forced to fire him...he is just begging to be fired - its the only way he and the democrats saves face. That's about the only possible thing you can conclude from this insanity, isn't it? Next up: Jaywalking, unpaid parking tickets, stuck your tongue out at your fifth grade teacher, got too frisky with Betty Lou in high school.
Our poor, once-noble fine nation. We are in the sewer and getting washed out to sea.
