GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A Metro Atlanta family says their loved one is in Immigration detention and will be deported this week.
They say that's almost a certain death sentence for the 48-year-old, who suffers from severe heart problems.
It appears to be a hard example of this country's toughening stance on immigration, and one familys heartache.
Records show Miguel Angel Fuentes-Villatoro was charged with driving without a license in 2015. He'd previously been caught trying to come over the border without papers.
Hes had three surgeries on his heart and wears a pacemaker. His daughter says he has already had one heart attack since being in custody since mid-March.
She fears he wont be able to get the pacemaker batteries changed as is required later this year.
Without the machine, she says he will die.
"He can definitely die as soon as he gets there. So that's why we worry. We want for them to let him out," Jessica Fuentes said.
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson emailed Thomas a statement saying in part: "Mr. Villatoro has a prior criminal conviction for a local misdemeanor charge and he is subject to a final order of removal issued by a federal immigration judge in April 2000. "

APRIL 2000?!?!?!
WTF???
Well go back to your country. They will take care of you. Oh take your illegal family with you
So no one in his home country has a pacemaker implanted? I call bullshit.
I am in no danger of being deported. But I’m still going to die.
Send him back to ol’ Meh-hi-co with a buttload of pacemaker batteries.
Works for me.
But it’s a terribly bad thing to refer to his home country as a “s***hole.”
How about a “deathtrap.” No, that’s no good, because you can obviously leave.
Thankfully, 71 countries have superior health care comapred to U.S, so deportation should be viewed as GOOD news!
They don’t ever say what his home-country is....can we assume it’s Mexico?
Cry me a rio. It’s not the job of the U.S. taxpayers to keep foreign nationals alive.
So basically they’re admitting that Mexico is a shithole.
Yeah, I’ve got screen capture from a major teaching hospital ER of an illegal with 30 visits to the ER in 4 months for dialysis.....
Send him back to Mexico with some aspirin.
We owe lifetime medical care to everyone who sneaks into the USA?
So can we assume US and GA taxpayers have spent $750,000 keeping this guy alive?
We can't take care of the entire planet for free.
Send him packing with a couple of spare batteries to hold him over till a local source can be found.
Immediately start deducting any costs of illegal aliens in this country from any ‘aid’ sent to their home country.
They will be repatriated fast and the flow will stop.
Well, you can't live forever.
That’s what I’m wondering and they have plenty of medical facilities in Mexico City. I have a friend that travels there monthly on business and has never had a problem with care.
