US denies Syrian reports of attack on air base, Israel stays silent

Syrian state TV said there were casualties in what it said was a suspected US missile attack on a major air base in central Syria but the United States denied it had launched any air strikes against the country.

The state broadcaster earlier said explosions were heard at the T-4 airfield near Homs, which is close to the ancient city of Palmyra in central Syria.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), at least 14 military personnel, including Iranians, were among those killed in the strike that took place shortly before dawn.

A Syrian military source was quoted as saying air defences shot down eight missiles fired at the base, also known as the Tiyas Airbase, where defence analysts say there are large deployments of Russian forces, and where jets fly regular sorties to strike rebel-held areas.

US to Israel: Hell no, we won’t go!

The “Haaretz” headline is “Russia Outs Israel”.

The Russians are now saying as reported on “Ynetnews” and “Haaretz” websites that 2 Israeli F-15’s launched eight missiles from Lebanese airspace.

Five of them were downed by Syrian air defenses.

could be any or all of the above, or OTHER parties .. like UK’s been bombing Syria in the last few years, too...

(I’d guess this one is mostly likely USA... but to be clear I have no insider info)

Why would Syria gas its people when they pretty much have the rebels under control? They know they will be attacked if they use chemical weapons.

Trump has been talking of pulling out. It doesn’t seem logical that Assad would use chemical weapons. He would understand the consequences.

Is it the rebels? ISIS? Some other group wanting to overthrow Assad?

Most likely the rebels (who are actually tied to ISIS), and remember the pic of McCain with those guys? I believe O Drama and McCain were the ones who installed that group in Syria, and blamed Assad for using chemicals on his own people several years ago. It was meant to get Americans to support assassinating/removing Assad from Power, imho.

Readers: Now, if anyone actually knows who that group is, and if McCain/O Drama were trying to pull that off, speak up!

Why would Syria gas its people?

Because they are not Terrorist Assad’s people. By terror attacking them with gas he can make them flee in terror from the country. Like Terrorist Assad and Terrorist Putin have already accomplished with millions of undesirables.

Also because Putin knows from Ukraine how his special forces, paratroopers and marines, failed to capture Mariupol from civilian volunteers to the Ukraine military, which is the key to Crimea and exposed his forces weakness. Thus he knows how an unconquered location will bite him and is determined to stamp the place out with gas attacks since his forces can’t manage it.

There is also the bonus of turning dupes against their own governments in the West with conspiracy theories that more easily present themselves to the weak minded while his own supporters in Russia rally around him.

I don’t think a person can just stand around and watch neighbors kill each other. What about the Good Samaritan Law, unwritten as it is? Either that or round em all up in a big field and have the world’s largest fist fight. I’d pay to see that.

“Not Terrorist Assad’s people” = Al-Qaeda and sympathizers. Let’s play a tiny violin for them, shall we?

Many fled the Assad terror attacks to Germany. Only a few (now we can relatively use “a few” considering the large number), are Al-Qaeda or terrorist sympathizers.
