Attorney General Announces Zero-Tolerance Policy for Criminal Illegal Entry

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 6, 2018

Attorney General Announces Zero-Tolerance Policy for Criminal Illegal Entry

Attorney General Jeff Sessions today notified all U.S. Attorney’s Offices along the Southwest Border of a new “zero-tolerance policy” for offenses under 8 U.S.C. § 1325(a), which prohibits both attempted illegal entry and illegal entry into the United States by an alien. The implementation of the Attorney General’s zero-tolerance policy comes as the Department of Homeland Security reported a 203 percent increase in illegal border crossings from March 2017 to March 2018, and a 37 percent increase from February 2018 to March 2018—the largest month-to-month increase since 2011.

“The situation at our Southwest Border is unacceptable. Congress has failed to pass effective legislation that serves the national interest—that closes dangerous loopholes and fully funds a wall along our southern border. As a result, a crisis has erupted at our Southwest Border that necessitates an escalated effort to prosecute those who choose to illegally cross our border,” said Attorney General Jeff Sessions. “To those who wish to challenge the Trump Administration’s commitment to public safety, national security, and the rule of law, I warn you: illegally entering this country will not be rewarded, but will instead be met with the full prosecutorial powers of the Department of Justice. To the Department’s prosecutors, I urge you: promoting and enforcing the rule of law is vital to protecting a nation, its borders, and its citizens. You play a critical part in fulfilling these goals, and I thank you for your continued efforts in seeing to it that our laws—and as a result, our nation—are respected.”

On April 11, 2017, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a renewed commitment to criminal immigration enforcement. As part of that announcement, the Attorney General issued a memorandum to all federal prosecutors and directed them to prioritize the prosecution of certain criminal immigration offenses.

Today’s zero-tolerance policy further directs each U.S. Attorney’s Office along the Southwest Border (i.e., Southern District of California, District of Arizona, District of New Mexico, Western District of Texas, and the Southern District of Texas) to adopt a policy to prosecute all Department of Homeland Security referrals of section 1325(a) violations, to the extent practicable.

It’s my guess that DJT has played the Dimrats again. This liberal funded, illegal immigrant invasion March is playing right into Trump hand and possibly created a perfect situation whereby the President might be able to use that military funding to remedy the “emergency situation” that the lefties have so generously provided him with as an excuse.

Sweet! You never, EVER, would have heard those statements of principle from Lynch or Holder...or even Reno years ago. Let's hope that actions follow.

All in favor of a 100 foot wide, alligator infested moat on the southern border signify so by saying "Aye."

Next, Trump needs to send Mattis to Mexico to outline how the US will seize lands on the Mexican side of the border if Mexico does not get control of its citzens and guests. They need to stop all illegal cross border traffic, else we will do it for them. Time to play hardball.

Yes, should be armed and authorized to respond with deadly force if attacked. Even given authority to reach into Mexico to stop, capture, or, if necessary, neutralize their attackers. ZERO TOLERANCE.

Of course we should have zero tolerance for this, without question. If people want to apply for political asylum, by all means support this, and legitimately review their cases. If granted asylum they MUST renounce their citizenship from their country of origin. Democrats who oppose this are without question subversives.

If people cross from Mexico, where they ahve been given permission to be, and ask for asylum, fine, help them fill out the paperwork, then send them back to Mexico to wait for their hearing. They can then go the consult or embassy, else to a border station for that hearing. But NEVER let them into the US until a hearing approves it. And 99.9 % should be NO, since as they are in Mexico, they have no immediate fear of persecution. Send Mexico a thank you note for taking them in.

Yes, there’s a process for getting in, and there are laws. People in this country don’t know which laws are being enforced and which aren’t. It’s a very dangerous situation. Immigration, gun laws, drugs, lots of BS on the books... So it’s hard to tell (on purpose)!

No more fake asylum seekers. We have so many unassimilated foreign nationals in this country that we real Americans will have to seek asylum sometime soon. Close the borders and end legal immigration for at least 25 years.

It was good to hear Trump bringing that up again(anchor babies) Anchor babies are court created citizens which means they’re not citizens at all. They’re CINOs. I would deport 1st 2nd and 3rd generation illegal beans. But I’m a softy that way.

Yes, we are not currently under a felon shortage. We’ve got plenty. No need to import more. Thanks anyway.

The alligator moat sounds both efficient and economical.

No. That’s not good enough. We do *not* need to take in every frickin ‘asylum seeker’ whether they’re willing to mouth the words of renunciation or not. We’re welcoming terrorists and other violent felons in with fruit baskets and extra welfare benefits. It’s national suicide.

The whole asylum seeking for refugees from Muslim countries scheme was supposed to be aimed at rescuing persecuted *Christians*, not islamists.
